I have just recently moved from the UK to Canada and wanted to share with you some of the amazing things that Canada and Red Deer has to offer !!
28th of December - Sitting at Heathrow airport waiting for our flight. Leaving our friends and family behind thinking why are we doing this ? We go through the usual things at the airport check in, through security taking longer than usual due to the amount of bags we have, find our gate number and finally walk on to the aeroplane itself. The plane takes off as I look out the window. Suddenly I realised all the planning, preparation and sad moments was all down to the fact that we were moving our life and us to a whole different country that they call Canada !!
29th of December - My sisters birthday and we have arrived in Calgary. First day in a new country was strange but after going swimming at 5 in the morning followed by a hearty breakfast I began to feel more at home. Had our first taste of the beautiful landscape when we went for a walk in the local park which was just 5 minutes away from the hotel. What amazed me was the beautiful walks and nature considering that we were in the middle of Calgary which is a big city.
1st of January - New year and our first proper experience of snow mobiling and tobogganing. I was so excited and the amount of adrenaline that I got from slipping, sliding and jumping and holding on the snowmobile was unreal. It felt like I had truly arrived.
3rd of January - After the fun of hotels, swimming pools and some stunning views we moved in to our new house. After the usual arguments of who was having what bed room we started to unpack the things we had. After that we started to build some of the temporary furniture that we had bought from yes you guessed it Ikea !! as our furniture was still floating on a ship somewhere in the the ocean.
5th of January - Smash, Crash and Bash we are live at the Red Deer Rebels ice hockey home match against the Moose Jaw Warriors. It was so exciting as this was my first experience of ice hockey and boy did I enjoy it. Rather watch it than play it !!! The Red Deer Rebels won by 4 goals to 3 in a tight match.
25th of January - Dribble, shoot and slam dunk as we took a short trip up to Red Deer Collage to watch the Kings and Queens in the basketball against St Mary's. Both games where great quality with RDC Kings and Queens both winning. It was great fun going and supporting one of the local teams.
The first month in Canada has flown by with many memories the ones above are just a selection. Next objective start High School on the 31st of January and achieve my High School Diploma.
